During 2021, the AFAPA will be providing three, two-day mini-conferences at the Shocco Springs Conference Center in Talladega, Alabama.
January 22 & 23 – Winter Conference
May 7 & 8 – Annual Conference
September 17 & 18 – Fall Conference
Registration for the May AFAPA Conference is currently OPEN!
Register by emailing training@afapa.org with names of attending adults, address and phone number, and t-shirt size. Please do not call the Shocco Springs Conference Center to register!
Registration includes 10+ hours of certification-eligible training, one night’s accommodations (May 7th) , Dinner on May 7th and Breakfast and Lunch on May 8th. Registration is FREE for foster, adoptive, and kinship parents in the state of Alabama.
You will receive a confirmation email. Registrations are limited to 160 participants.

When arriving at the conference, please check in at the Shocco Bagley Center, located just north of Chapel.
Conference participants will be provided with hotel-like accommodations. Most rooms include two full- or queen-sized beds.
Meals are provided in the Dining-Room. Social-distancing is required, and meals are currently provided in a grab-and-go package to minimize interaction between guests.
Workshops for the AFAPA Conferences will be conducted in the Chapel. Social distancing will be observed and attendees are required to wear masks whenever they are not seated.

Child Care is not provided at the conference. Children are not permitted in the workshops
DHR approved foster homes can apply for mileage reimbursement to and from conference. Others need to check with their approving agency for what they might offer.
At least 10 training hours will be available for the conference. You may choose to attend just one day. You will receive a Training Certificate by email with your name on it. Be sure print your email address on the sign in sheet at registration.
Meals are served in the dining hall on 2nd floor of Bagley Center. You will pick up a bagged or boxed meal, and you may take it outside to eat if you like. Food is not allowed in the Chapel.
AFAPA will provide water and snack breaks on Friday afternoon 11:30 and 2:30. Saturday Breaks will be 10:00 and 2:15.
Saturday Breakfast is 7:30 and Lunch at 11:45 Noon.
